About Malinda —

Early on in my career, the hustle and grind for my own success was the ultimate goal. But as I evolved and furthered my career, I quickly realized that watching others succeed around me was far more satisfying.

Long-term care was never the plan, in fact, it couldn’t have been further away from what I intended to do with my life. Yet, I somehow found myself smack in the middle of an administrator role in my early to mid 20s. I should’ve been petrified if I knew what I know now, but ignorance was bliss and I meandered along. Fast forward nearly one decade after being an administrator, and the industry is nearly unrecognizable. I thought it was tough then, but it is nothing compared to how difficult being an administrator is now. Turnover is rampant and ongoing support is lacking, which is how I got to this point.

I recognized early on the need for more support within the administrator world, no matter what stage of a person’s career. M.S. Healthcare Consulting was created as a result of wanting to provide administrators and executive directors the ongoing mentorship that they deserve and need to navigate the stressful role.

When I am not tackling the world of long-term care,

I am a professor at Iowa State University, as well as at the Barcelona Executive Business School. Helping to make a positive impression on the next generation is incredibly important to me, and my ultimate hope is that they choose to embark on the tough, gritty world of healthcare. I have my doctorate degree from MCPHS University in Boston (go Bruins!), my master’s degree from Drake University, and my bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. I love all things Halloween-related, enjoy going for nature walks, write children’s books in my spare time, and will never say no to a glass of Malbec.
